Luma Hebrew School Is Off to a Great Start!
Dear Luma Village,
It’s so refreshing to see our community stepping up, coming together, and making real change!
This past Sunday, we had our first Luma Hebrew School session, and the kids were so excited to explore the seven days of creation through different mediums. We enjoyed davening, making popcorn for snack time, and doing yoga with animal poses while learning the Hebrew names of the animals. We also read a book about creation, and the kids loved the beautiful illustrations and learning what happened on each day.
The biggest hit of the day (besides making popcorn!) was our glow-in-the-dark room. We transformed a dark closet into a space where the kids could create shadow puppets with flashlights and experiment with glow sticks and other glow-in-the-dark items. They had such a fun time!
A huge thank you to Erica Riback and all our teen volunteers for making our first Luma Hebrew School session so special! We’re so lucky to have such an amazing team coming together to make this happen, and it was so nice seeing how much the kids enjoyed every minute!
Last week, we also officially began our Luma One-to-One program! We’ll continue setting up new matches and getting more friendships started throughout the month. Everyone has been so excited to meet their new friend, get to know them, and begin building a connection that extends beyond a weekly visit and makes them part of something bigger — our Luma family.
A few reminders for the week ahead:
Drum Circle: Please note that we’ve changed the date to October 25th.
Luma U: This Wednesday, we’re launching Luma U online for all teen volunteers! A Zoom link will be sent Wednesday morning. We want to keep our teens informed, connected, and empowered to continue making a difference.
It’s exciting to see Luma growing, with more friendships forming and more opportunities for our community to come together. Thank you for being part of it!
Wishing you all a Good Shabbos,
Zally & Esti
